In partnership with Grigon Communications Inc, the foundation launched a self-contained grassroots advocacy and communications program online through the website.

Community leaders, Testicular Cancer survivors, health services professionals, and other activists can now deliver testicular health discussions to high school classes, work groups and other venues where appropriate. Also included are training materials targeting discussions with medical and health services professionals

this year
written by Dustin McDowell, July 13, 2009
This year was my freshman year in high school and i thought i was healthy going to the gym playing football normal 14 year old stuff. Half way through the year at the end of winter into spring i noticed when i'd run i would get sharp pains from my area up in my stomach as like i was hit there but i didnt think anything of it. One night i was laying in bed and i noticed my testicle was 2 times its size and the next morning i went to the hospital and got a sano gram and they checked for a hernia after the sano gram the doctor told me it was a tumor and i'd have to get it taken out for further testing. In health class they briefly go over checking but dont really enfore it so i had no idea. after my orchiectomy i thought it was all over but then i had to go to a different hospital and they told me my tumor had 3 types of cancers and that chemo wasnt an option but radiation and the lymphnode surgery was and at the time i just turned 15 and i didnt want the radiation because it has side affets so i took the surgery and i was out of the hospital in 4 days and out of school for the rest of the year. Cancer has done a lot to me in my life and im not even in 10th grade yet and i dont want anyone going through what i went through or worse its left a tole on me mentaly and physically.

sincerly,

Dustin
Thank you Dustin

Dear Dustin,

Thank you for sharing your story with us. It is never easy to hear the words, "you have cancer." It sounds like you are recovering, and we are very happy about that.

If you would like, please get in touch with us using the email above. Would you be interested in giving survivor presentations in your community? We might be able to help get you started using the Resource Kit. It sounds like you would be great telling your story and helping us spread the message that all men need to check themselves...and if they find something DO SOMETHING!

In the meantime good luck with your studies, and keep spreading the message!

Sincerely,
The Foundation
