Live Strong… Check Harder
Friday, 05 February 2010 03:40
As I was making my commute to the office this morning I decided to zone out with the daily copy of Metro NY. As I flipped through the usual Jersey Shore gossip and articles about the “Who’s Who of Politicians Who are Angry with Massachusetts”, I came across an inspiring interview with our friend Mr. Lance Armstrong!

Lance is the stereotypical Man’s Man. He’s an amazing athlete, activist, and survivor. Plus the fact that he used to get “checked” nightly from Sheryl Crow doesn’t hurt either.

The most inspiring part of the article was when he was asked “Where you ever embarrassed to talk about it?” Armstrong replied, “Like most young, healthy men, I ignored the warning signs, and never imagined the seriousness of my condition. But then my competitive spirit took over. I declared myself not a cancer victim but a cancer survivor. I got really angry and became interested in fighting cancer; not just my own, but cancer in general.”

Guys. Much like the signs in the NYC Subway that say “If you see something, say something,” than “If you feel something, say something”! PLEASE, if your berries feel a little lumpy (or lumpier than usual) get your butt to a doctor!

Lance didn’t give in, and neither should you. We should all take his lead and fight this cancer one self-exam at a time.

You know the drill… be a man, self-exam.

Oh, and if you’d like to read the full interview, click here.
