Little Balls vs. Big Balls
Monday, 01 March 2010 18:22

Whoa! I just got my little Google Alert for Testicular Cancer and one of the stories is about how tiny balls are not only unpleasing to the eye, but also open up a plethora of medical concerns including TC.

Did you know this? I sure didn't. Luckily I'm about average in this area, thank goodness for my Italian heritage. But according to a recent article on Slate.com by Florence Williams, researchers in Denmark have been comparing their nuts to those of their neighbors in Finland (don't ask me how they do this... that's a little too Vermont for me) and surprisingly found that in a study of 1,600 babies born between 1997 and 2001, the Danes had smaller tackle than those of the Finns.

Why is this?

Environmental toxins from industrial chemicals, pesticides, dioxins and flame retardants according to article. The Danish lads for one reason or another seem to have higher levels of these nasty things in their systems than the Finns. Frighteningly, according to the website, American males are not that different then the Danes. The number of U.S. males born with hypospadias (when the urethra opens long the underside of the penis and linked to the phthalates found in numerous cans of hairspray, bottles of perfumes and beauty products) is growing, and the rates of testicular cancer are rising too! Pretty much because those gals on Staten Island and South Jersey can't put down the aerosol hairspray and "tan in a can"... another thing to hold against your evil ex-girlfriend.

What can you do?

Well... as we all know when it comes to the environment and anything that has to do with chemicals in the air, we're pretty screwed. But, I bet if you find the name and address of any male senator or representative in your district and send them an email, or give them a call that you would like to "keep both your balls, and they probably would too"? You might get a response.

In the meantime, if you're like the blessed Danish folk, make sure you keep your hands in your pants and keep doing your monthly self-exam... frankly, I don't care if your balls are small, big, hairy, droopy or uneven, as a friend, I want to make sure you keep em.

Be a man, self exam.
