NY METS, YANKEES, JETS and GIANTS legends, TV, Entertainment and Radio personalities and many corporations will join with the Foundation at the PIX11/Sean Kimerling Testicular Cancer Foundation 8th  Annual Celebrity Golf Tournament and Dinner, August 4, 2011 at Muttontown Country Club in East Norwich, NY to honor NY METS legend Bud Harrelson. The event includes a day of golf, lunch, dinner, live entertainment and contests at one of the region’s premier clubs. Porsche of Roslyn will sponsor the “Hole in One”.

Rich Ackerman, Ottis “OJ” Anderson, Stephen Baker, Gary “US” Bonds, Jim Burt, Chad Cascadden, Rich Caster, Rick Cerone, Paul D’Amato, Bruce Harper, Ed Kranepool, Ann Liguori, Lionel, Lolita Lopez, Jackie Martling, Tommy McDonald, Curtis McGriff, Greg Mocker, Karl Nelson, Dr. Steve, Darryl Strawberry, Jim Watkins, and many others are invited to attend. Every hour of every day in the United States one man will be diagnosed with testicular cancer. Testicular cancer rates are increasing every year. Almost 8500 men will be diagnosed with the disease this year.

TC is the most common cancer in men under 40. Recently published studies show the incidence of testicular cancer in men under and men over 40 is almost equal. This disease is 95 – 99% curable when diagnosed and treated in its earliest stages. Men 40 years or older who are diagnosed with the disease have twice the risk of dying of the disease than men under 40.

The Foundation was established in memory of Sean Kimerling, the Emmy Award-winning anchor of PIX11 sports and pre-game announcer for the New York Mets. Sean died from testicular cancer on September 9, 2003. He was only 37. The Foundation was formed to raise awareness of testicular cancer and the importance of early diagnosis and treatment.

“Sean fought a brief, intense battle with cancer. He was unaware of his cancer until very late when severe back pain sent him to the doctor. He was a young, healthy, vibrant man, intelligent and kind … his life was cut short in its prime. This is a great opportunity to meet and play with your sports hero, re-connect with friends, network with business contacts and help us fight this disease”, said Noah Kimerling Foundation President and Founder.
