SKTCF 3rd Annual Running of the Balls, SATURDAY JUNE 20

Print

Here’s something you should know: Every hour one man in the U.S. is diagnosed with testicular cancer (TC). This cancer which primarily affects 15-40 year old men is highly treatable — in fact, 99 percent curable — when found and treated at its earliest stages. In the case of TC, awareness is the cure. So come have fun, run and spread the word about TC.

With that in mind, we encourage people in the New York area to "Be Ballsy" and check out the 3rd Annual The Running of the Balls 5K and 10K, produced by NYCRUNS, on Roosevelt Island. The race will take place on Fathers Day Weekend, Saturday June 20, 2015.

Grab Your Balls and Run to Roosevelt Island:

The Sean Kimerling Testicular Cancer Foundation Announces the 2nd Annual Running of the Balls

New York, NY - Every hour of every day one man in the United States is diagnosed with testicular cancer. But it is not one of the cancers you hear people talking about.  Why is that? It needs to be discussed, as men are needlessly dying from a disease that’s up to 99% curable when found early. The Sean Kimerling Testicular Cancer Foundation is raising awareness of the disease with the second Annual Running of the Balls 5k/10k, produced by NYC RUNS, taking place on Roosevelt Island on Saturday, June 14, 2014.

The Running of the Balls will be the Father’s Day event of the year, as people from all over the NYC area will grab their balls and run to Roosevelt Island to celebrate Father’s Day early and help fight the most common cancer in young men. Participants will enjoy a great day and support two fantastic causes, as the Foundation is happy to continue their partnership with Toys of Hope. All event participants are asked to bring one brand new sports ball (baseball, basketball, football, etc.) to the event. They may either run with their balls and hand in later, or donate prior to start time. Toys of Hope will be collecting donated balls and distributing them to needy children and families in the NYC area.

Run, walk, or just enjoy a great day alongside the foundation’s awareness ambassador “Mr. Check ‘Em”, and the Male Cancer Awareness Campaign’s “Mr. Testicles”! The Running of the Balls, on Saturday June 14, 2014, is an electronically timed 5K on a USATF certified course. Onsite packet pickup starts at 8:00am. The 5k starts promptly at 9am, the 10k at 10am. The course will feature H20 stations. A bag check, restrooms, entertainment and post race snacks will be provided. Awards will be given to the top 3 overall in each gender, in addition to several special categories. All participants will receive a souvenir “Running of the Balls” t-shirt. To register for the event, Click Here.
