U.S. Foundation Joins “Ballsy” Charities from Around the Globe at Zero Campaign Launch in Belfast, Northern Ireland

New York, NY - Every hour of every day one man in the United States is diagnosed with testicular cancer, yet it’s not one of the cancers you hear people talking much about. Charities from around the world are coming together to change that at the worldwide launch of the Zero Campaign at The Waterfront Hall in Belfast City on March 16, 2013.

The Zero Campaign is designed to showcase the amazing results that Northern Ireland has achieved with zero deaths from testicular cancer for three years in a 10 year time frame. While the country has a small population, health systems are approaching the disease—one of the most curable cancers if caught and treated in the very early stages—with strategies that successfully encourage early detection, treatment and follow up. The Zero Campaign intends to encourage other countries to look at how they fight this disease. Testicular cancer charities from all over the US, UK and Europe will meet to share ideas, network and collaborate.

“We are all very excited. We don’t often get a chance to meet and celebrate what is great news in the fight against cancer, especially in a country that has shown that it’s possible to achieve zero deaths from testicular cancer,” says Patrick Cox, founder and CEO of Male Cancer Awareness Campaign, and the host of the event. “We are delighted to have the Sean Kimerling Foundation attend our event. They are a bold male cancer charity, and they’ve inspired us.”

“This is a great opportunity to learn from the efforts in Belfast and across the UK, which are audacious, irreverent and above all, successful” says Rob Eccles, Executive Director of the Sean Kimerling Testicular Cancer Foundation. “We’re honored to be among those invited to attend.”
