The Sean Kimerling Testicular Cancer Foundation

Dear Friends and Supporters,

It is with pride and some sadness that we announce the closing of the Sean Kimerling Testicular Cancer Foundation (SKTCF).  It has been twenty years since we formed the SKTCF with the mission of raising awareness about testicular cancer, specifically in young men.  And, of course, it is also twenty years since we lost Sean to this disease, a curable cancer if found and treated early.  We know Sean would have been proud of the work we have done with your help over these many years and are so grateful for your support.  Along the way we have had many good times at our Golf Tournaments, the ‘Running of the Balls,’ promoting our cause on social media with Mr. Check’Em, our giant testicle mascot, and so much more.  SKTCF is especially proud to have helped fund the Testicular Cancer Curriculum for middle and high schools, developed by the Adolescent and Young Adult Cancer Program at USC.  We have educated men about testicular cancer and the importance of self-examination for early detection with information and humor.

These past two years SKTCF has focused on contacting health teachers and health centers in schools and universities and are very proud to say that we have had personal contact with over 475 schools and universities and distributed more than 30,000 Check’Em Shower Cards to spread the word about self-examination for early detection and treatment.

We hope you will continue to spread the message that men need to Check’Em for early detection of Testicular Cancer. A good resource is The Testicular Cancer Awareness Foundation, testicularcancerawarenessfoundation.org. This foundation has excellent visuals on its website for self-exams and a small pocket guide for self-exams as well as other excellent materials that can be ordered for schools or individual use.

Sean, whose first response to his diagnosis was to plan to educate young men about testicular cancer, was only 37 when he died.  We have been honored to carry out his wishes and help save the lives of young men.  Please continue to spread the word about TC and remember our beautiful Sean, who packed a lifetime of living into his 37 years.  Thank you so much for joining us in this effort.  There are no words to say how much we appreciate you.
